Tea mosquito bug, Helopeltis antonii  

Symptoms of damage

Ø After sunset, nymphs and adults ingest the plant's sap, which causes tender branches and leaves to wither from phytotoxemia.

Ø Affected branches have a burned-up appearance.

Identification of the pest

Ø Adult: black color with a red thorax, a black and white abdomen, and wings that are more of a greenish brown color.

Management

Ø For improved control, use phosalone 2ml/lit of water in the evening.
